Margaret Holloway
1948 – 2023
Margaret Holloway was born in Oxford in 1948 and spent most of her life in the city she loved. A retired primary school teacher, she was known across the neighbourhood for her extraordinary kitchen garden, her patience with people of all ages, and her unfailingly good Victoria sponge. She is remembered with immense love by her children David and Sarah, her four grandchildren, and the many lives she quietly shaped over the years.
Memories & tributes

She was the life of every party. This was taken at her New Year's celebration, and she danced longer than any of us.
“She made the best Victoria sponge I've ever tasted, and she knew it.”
“Mum had a way of making you feel like the only person in the room. I've never met anyone else who could do that.”
“Margaret was my neighbour for thirty years. She always had time for a conversation over the fence, and she remembered every birthday without fail.”

Mum in the garden she loved so much. This was taken the summer before she retired.

With her grandchildren at Christmas 2022. She was so happy that day.

She always said this was her favourite walk. We took it together every autumn for twenty years.

Her 70th birthday. She made the cake herself, of course.

Margaret's beloved cat Tiger Lilly, who had the run of the house and knew it.
