A LEGACY OF BHAKTI, A HEART FULL OF MERCY
Hare Krishna. I feel I am not qualified to speak about mataji or the depth of mataji's contributions and service. Whatever little I share here can never truly do justice to the wonderful Vaiṣṇavi you have been and the inspiration you have given to so many mataji. Thank you for the unlimited mercy, blessings, and association mataji have so kindly shared. Mataji you have always been an inspiration to me, not merely through your service and devotion, but through the warmth and simplicity with which you carried yourself. Whenever I saw you, there was always that beautiful smile and a heartfelt “Hare Krishna” that made the moment feel special. It may have seemed like a small gesture, but these are the little things that leave the deepest impressions on our hearts. I am going to miss that smile, that greeting, and the joy of seeing mataji in the association of devotees. Some souls inspire us without even realising how much they mean to us. Your life, your service, and your presence have left an impression that I will always cherish with gratitude mataji. Though my heart feels the sadness of your departure, I pray to Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Krishna Kanaiyah Lal and Sri Sri Nitai Gauranga to kindly bestow Their causeless mercy upon mataji and keep mataji always sheltered at Their lotus feet. May Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurumaharaj's blessings continue to guide your spiritual journey mataji. Thank you, Mataji, for being part of my journey in Krishna consciousness. The association may no longer be there in the way we knew it, but the memories, inspiration, and gratitude will remain. All glories to HG Shanti Rupa Mataji! With Love, Lilesvari Radhanandini Devi Dasi Puspasara Vrnda Devi Dasi Narayani Nityarupa Devi Dasi

A Vaishnavi Who Touched Countless Hearts — A Guiding Mother, A Forever Blessing..
Hare Krishna. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. All glories to Guru Maharaj🙏🏻 Some souls leave an imprint on our lives that time can never erase. Mataji, you are one such precious soul. To all of us, You were a guiding mother, a source of strength, and a pillar of ISKCON Malaysia. You were someone we could turn to for advice, encouragement and direction. Mataji, my memories of you go back to 1996, when I first visited Jagannath Mandir. Your beautiful face and divine presence left a lasting impression on me. Over the years, you became part of so many important moments in my life.. from my wedding, where you lovingly took care of all the arrangements, to the time you confirmed my pregnancy and chose the beautiful name Tejashvini for my daughter. I admired you in so many ways. Your graceful presence, your beautiful way of speaking, your confidence and, above all, your dedication to Guru Maharaj. I learnt so much simply by observing you and receiving your guidance. Mataji, your unwavering dedication and deep love for Guru Maharaj have always been an inspiration to me. Perhaps this was Krishna's special mercy upon you, that after a lifetime of loving and serving Guru Maharaj, you departed from this world in the very place where Guru Maharaj was present. You remained close to the lotus feet of our beloved Guru Maharaj until your very last moments. What a deeply touching and meaningful thought to cherish.. Jagannath Mandir will never be the same without you, Mataji. I will miss your beautiful smile, your sweet voice, your graceful walk, your affectionate gestures and the way you always made us feel cared for. More than anything, I will miss your tight hugs... You have left behind a legacy of devotion, service and motherly care that will continue to inspire generations of devotees. Thank you, Mataji, for being such an important part of my life and for all the beautiful memories I will carry with me forever. So many memories are flashing before my eyes, Mataji. There is so much in my heart, but I find it difficult to put everything into words. No words seem enough to express what you mean to me. Mataji, your memories, guidance and blessings will forever remain with me. May I always carry the lessons you have taught me and continue to walk in the path of devotion that you so beautifully exemplified. You will be deeply missed, Mataji. Thank you for everything.. All Glories To HG Shanti Rupa Mataji!!! Your servant, Gokula Lakshmi dd

Mataji is born for the service of the Supreme Lord and the loving care of His devotees."
the 2000s
Hare Krishna. We offer our most respectful humble obeisances to HG Shanti Rupa Devi Dasi Mataji, who left her mortal body to return to the lotus feet of Lord Krishna. Mataji was a true symbol of unalloyed devotion. She ran the race of devotional service (bhakti) with unparalleled enthusiasm, always fixing her mind on the Lord and never showing a single sign of tiredness. Her life was an inspiring example of selfless seva. We pray to Sri Sri Radha Gokul Chandra that her pure soul is granted entrance into Goloka Vrindavana (Krishna-loka). May the Supreme Lord bless us all with the strength and determination to follow in her footsteps, so that our service to the temple and the community may continue uninterrupted in her honor.

Hare Krsna! All glories to this wonderful Vaishnavi, Shantirupa mataji. I always would read and see her in Guru Maharaja's talks, repeating in Tamil. I had the good fortune of associating and spending time with her in the Kartik Navadweep parikrama in 2025. Got to know her closely. I remember her very compassionate nature especially. I had not brought a chair along. So she gave one of her chairs to me and when I wanted to return it at the end, she said to keep it as a memento. I do have pictures with her but sadly cannot lay my hands on one right now. She is do desr to Guru Maharaja and with his blessings will always be serving somewhere in the spiritual world! Hare Krsna!

Today, the Malaysian Yatra has lost a precious soul — a dedicated disciple, a loving wife, an extraordinary mother, not only to her beautiful children but also to the entire Malaysian Yatra. H.G. Shanti Rupa Mataji was truly a remarkable personality. A talented doctor, a compassionate counsellor, a sincere meditator, and a wonderful cook, she possessed so many beautiful qualities. Above all, she was a devoted servant of Their Lordships, offering her time, talents, love, and dedication in the service of the Lord. Her departure leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of everyone who knew her and in the entire Malaysian Yatra. Her selfless service, unwavering dedication, and loving presence will always be remembered with deep gratitude and affection. It is difficult to find words to express the magnitude of this loss. Our hearts ache for her beloved family, especially her wonderful children, who have lost their precious mother. May Lord Krishna and Lord Jagannath give them the strength, courage, and shelter they need during this incredibly difficult time. Dear Shanti Rupa Mataji, your physical presence may no longer be with us, but your service, your love, and the beautiful legacy you leave behind will forever remain in our hearts. Your loss is deeply felt by the entire Malaysian Yatra. You will be dearly missed, Mataji. 🙏🏻 May Their Lordships lovingly protect you and keep you always under Their divine shelter. Hare Krishna. All glories to the Vaishnavas. 🙏🏻 Sumalini Lalita dd

_(30th October 2026)_ *A Heartfelt Homage to Our Dear and Beloved H.G. Shanti Rupa Mataji* All glories to ISKCON Founder-Acharya His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada! All glories to Srila Guru Maharaj! Dear and beloved Shanti Rupa Mataji, You were undoubtedly one of the strongest and most exemplary senior Vaishnavis I have personally had the privilege of associating with in my Krishna conscious journey. Vaishnavas never die; they live forever through their devotion, teachings and the hearts of those whose lives they have touched. Throughout Srimad Bhagavatam and our sacred scriptures, we witness how the Supreme Lord eternally protects and glorifies His devotees. Whether it was Prahlada Maharaja, Jatayu, Maharaja Pariksit or Bhismadeva, their extraordinary circumstances never diminished their devotion. Rather, their unwavering surrender to the Supreme Lord made their lives and departures eternally glorious. As Lord Krishna declares in Bhagavad-gita 9.31: kaunteya pratijānīhi na me bhaktaḥ praṇaśyati “O son of Kunti, declare it boldly that My devotee never perishes.” Mataji, your departure at the auspicious Brahma Muhurta on 29 October 2026, while Srila Guru Maharaj is present in Bangalore, is a deeply emotional moment for all of us. Within any community of devotees, differences, misunderstandings and even jealousy may sometimes arise due to circumstances and human nature. Yet, Mataji, you demonstrated an extraordinary standard of maturity, tolerance and steadfastness in your Vaishnava dealings. For this, I offer my heartfelt salutations at your lotus feet. I still vividly remember the early days of my Krishna consciousness, when I began seeking spiritual guidance at Sri Jagannatha Mandir, Kuala Lumpur. You were always there, quietly serving in the background, supporting and nurturing devotees. Although you were much closer to many of my peers, I always carried tremendous reverence for both you and H.G. Tattvavit Prabhu. In fact, my respect was so great that I often lacked the confidence to approach either of you for personal association. Yet, from time to time, you would gently reach out to me, gradually drawing me closer, offering your association and engaging me in devotional service. Mataji among few whom knew in full, my Krishna consciousness journey. Only now do I realise how precious those moments were. My family and I will deeply miss your affectionate guidance and association. Mataji, your presence became even more prominent during the difficult and challenging periods of our lives. Your protection, encouragement and guidance gave us strength when we needed it most. You were truly like the invisible thread holding together the beads of a beautiful garland. Many of us were connected, supported and gradually shaped through your quiet influence. By observing your conduct, your decisions and your dealings with devotees, we learned invaluable lessons in Vaishnava etiquette, maturity and spiritual responsibility. The entire yatra witnessed the extraordinary difficulties and trials you endured throughout your life. Yet, despite everything, you remained firmly anchored in Krishna consciousness. I cannot even imagine how I would have responded if even a fraction of those difficulties had come upon me. Your determination, tolerance and unshakable faith will forever remain an inspiration. My wife, H.G. Padmini Radharani Devi Dasi, and I would often discuss the exemplary Vaishnava qualities we observed among the devotees around us. Mataji, your name would invariably be among the first to arise in our conversations. My wife, would often remind me that your enthusiasm for devotional service and your sincere service attitude remained unchanged from the very beginning of your Krishna conscious journey until your final days. Such consistency in devotion is truly rare and worthy of our deepest admiration. Padmini also fondly remembers your extraordinary motherly affection, particularly during travels. You would lovingly remind her to drink water, eat properly and purchase something to eat without worrying about the expense. Even simple gestures, such as buying biscuits for us at the airport, reflected the genuine care you carried in your heart. These may appear to be small acts, but they reveal the greatness of a Vaishnavi whose devotion naturally expressed itself through compassion and concern for others. Mataji, you never failed to keep me connected to Sri Jagannatha Mandir, the very place where my inspiration for Krishna consciousness first blossomed. Through your encouragement and association, you helped preserve that spiritual connection, even during challenging times. For this, I shall remain eternally indebted to you. Today, as we remember your glorious life and departure, my heart is filled with gratitude, admiration and a deep sense of loss. Dear Mataji, please, please forgive me and my family for any offences we may have committed towards you, knowingly or unknowingly, through our words, actions or thoughts. I pray that I may one day perfect my own Krishna consciousness sufficiently to become worthy of your association again, wherever the Supreme Lord may arrange it. Until then, your example will continue to guide and inspire us. Your insignificant servants, *H.G. Navakisora Gopinath Das* *H.G. Padmini Radharani Devi Dasi* *Bhakta Sryeenivaas*

Born to Serve Lord Caitanya's Movement
His Holiness Srila Jayapataka Swami Guru Maharaja used to speak in classes grhasta Sannyasis ie householder devotees who live their lives so dedicated to service of Sri Guru & Gauranga that they, although are householders, are actually sannyasis due to the sacrifices, commitment, dedication and devotion to Guru & Krishna. Her Grace Shanti Rupa Devi Dasi Mataji and her beloved husband His Grace Tattvavit Prabhu is an epitome of such grhasta sannyasis. Their lives are an example and their life story should be put into a book as guide for all future grhastas. Her funeral at this ISKCON Sheshadripuram Temple hall is most appropriate. Shanti Rupa Mataji had spent more time in the temple than at her home. Appropriately the blessed Lord arranged for her funeral under His very altar at this temple. His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Guru Maharaja attended so many birthdays, weddings etc. However it is extremely rare to see Guru Maharaja attending someone's funeral. Despite Srila Guru Maharaja's current health crisis, His Holiness took the great effort to come down 6 floors from his room, and personally bless her body. His Holiness Srila Jayapataka Swami Guru Maharaja narrated how he prayed earnestly to Sri Krishna to let her stay; however Krishna had other plans. His Holiness said Shanti Rupa Mataji went back to Godhead. So many different devotees join this movement for so many different reasons. However, it is extremely rare that someone is sent by the Lord to serve His movement. This is seen by how she served the movement so completely, perfectly & in so many ways and aspects, and touched the hearts of thousands of devotees in a loving way. Many owe their spiritual lives to her. These kind of service is very rare. So, my personal conclusion is Her Grace Shanti Rupa Mataji was sent by Lord Caitanya to serve His movement. She was born to serve the Sankirtan movement of Lord Caitanya. This is a rare empowerment. We are blessed to obtain her association and darshana. Sometimes we realise the greatness of a devotee after we lose them. Therefore, it is always prudent to appreciate devotees while they are alive and not commit offenses to any one devotee, even if we in our fallen consciousness, see faults in devotees. We should always pray to the Lord to bless us to have proper consciousness to always appreciate the wonderful qualities of all devotees and never commit offenses to anyone. I hope Her Grace Shanti Rupa Mataji will bless me with a drop of her mercy so that I could follow in her footsteps. Hare Krishna. your servant, Santi Vardhana Caitanya dasa

Hare Krishna. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada. It is still difficult for me to accept that our beloved Her Grace Shanti Rupa Mataji is no longer physically with us. Mataji was truly a pillar of strength, dedication and compassion for the entire ISKCON Malaysia community, especially Sri Jagannatha Mandir Kuala Lumpur. To many of us, she was more than a senior devotee or a spiritual guide. She was a motherly figure who genuinely cared for everyone. On a personal level, Mataji played an important role in my life. During my wedding, she was one of the main people who stood at the forefront, ensuring everything went smoothly. Her love, guidance and care for my family continued throughout the years. I once asked Mataji how she managed the many problems, complaints and challenges that devotees brought to her, and how she knew she was giving them the right advice. Her answer has stayed with me ever since. She said that she always kept His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Guru Maharaj and Srila Prabhupada at the centre of everything. Whenever someone approached her with a difficult decision, she would ask: "Do you think your decision will make Guru Maharaj happy or unhappy?" She explained that this simple question would help devotees reflect and make the right decision. That conversation showed me how deeply devoted she was to Guru Maharaj and how she always placed Krishna consciousness above everything else. Just a few days before her surgery, I shared photographs of the deities with Mataji and called to assure her that we would be praying for her successful surgery. She thanked me for taking care of the deities and asked me to convey her regards to my family. What touched me most was that, instead of speaking about her health, she immediately started discussing the Damodara programme, its launch, preaching activities and whether all the arrangements were in place. Even when facing a major surgery, her thoughts remained focused on preaching and devotional service. One of the most precious relationships I shared with Mataji was caring for her beloved home deities — Sri Sri Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra, Sri Sri Gaura Nitai, Lord Nrsimhadeva and Srila Prabhupada. Whenever she travelled to India or elsewhere, she would call me to collect the deities and look after Them. Each visit to her home came with her warm hospitality, and she would always lovingly feed me. Upon returning to Malaysia, she would call again, asking me to bring the deities home. This became a beautiful routine between us over the years. Before leaving for Bangalore for her surgery, Mataji once again called me to collect her deities. And I did, just as I had always done. But this time, Mataji will not be calling me to return her deities. That thought breaks my heart. I never imagined that the last time I collected her deities would truly be the last time I would receive that familiar call from her. Mataji, your absence is deeply felt. Your guidance, motherly affection, dedication to Guru Maharaj and unwavering commitment to Srila Prabhupada's mission will forever remain an inspiration to me and my family. Thank you, Mataji, for being part of our lives, for guiding us, caring for us and trusting us with the service of your beloved deities. We humbly pray at the lotus feet of Sri Sri Radha Gokulacandra, Lord Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra, Sri Sri Gaura Nitai, Srila Prabhupada and Guru Maharaj for your auspicious onward spiritual journey. Mataji, we will miss you dearly. Your love, teachings and memories will forever remain in our hearts. Your servants, Padmanetra Govinda Das Atisundari Radhika Devi Dasi Aradhana Netra Madhav Netra Hare Krishna. 🙏🏻
