It's unimaginable that you're gone Uncle. You were the fittest and youngest looking of the OG Mauritian dads. It was such a blessing to grow up having you as one of the father figures. You always made people feel like you had their full attention. A nice glass of red and great conversation. The saddest thing is that my memories of you are by your beautiful wifes side. You could feel the genuine love and adoration between the too of you. This also extended to your boys, their partners and your grandchildren. My heart breaks for you all. Especially you Aunty. I like to believe that my Dad has a golfing buddy with him again and that their having a drink together, catching up. Our families were joined together by the union of our children. We have shared many memories over the past 20 years which we are grateful for. We’ve travelled together, shared many meals together, danced, sang & made the most of our time together. We were family. For 39 years, we have shared a friendship filled with treasured memories — from our very first meeting as fellow Mauritians at the nurses’ quarters in Rozelle Hospital, to the countless dinner parties, celebrations, gatherings, and short trips that brought us so many happy memories. Ivan was an optimist with an incredible zest for life. His sense of humour was his gift to everyone around him. He had a remarkable way of lighting up every room with his funny jokes, laughter, and warmth. We will always remember the simple words he used to describe his love for Australia: “Nous vive ici.” The world has lost a light, and our hearts are deeply saddened. Please know that we are holding you and the family close in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time .

I have known yvan for over 25 years. Always a good sincere knowledgeable person. He was there in my darkest hours always supportive. Yvan used to come to my place 3 times a week for a cuppa n a chat after his golf session near my place. I always looked forward for his visit n his "pootoo'. We did sooooo many things together...dining, cruising, camping, shows etc. We always play scrabble. I could never beat him. However, once I was lucky to beat him. I was so happy n kept the score sheet as a souvenir. Best night of my scrabble game. Yvan liked singing, I can still hear his favourite song Tombe la neige. Too many souvenirs to list. I can only keep those souvenirs in my mind. Rest in peace mon ami until we meet again. You left us but you will always stay in my heart. Adieu l'ami.

‘Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories'. Evan was very close to our hearts and will always be. Patricia and family, keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

There is a kind of person who moves through the world leaving light behind them. My uncle Yvan was that kind of person. When I was a little girl, I once asked him, with complete seriousness, to bring me snow on his next visit from the UK — wrapped carefully in newspaper so it wouldn’t escape. He never told me it would melt. He simply went along with it, protecting my dream as though it were something precious and entirely possible. That was Tonton Yvan. He understood that some magic is worth keeping alive. As I grew older, our conversations grew with me. He was curious, warm, and genuinely interested in the world and the people in it. But what I will carry with me longest is his laugh. I can still hear it. It was the kind of laugh that made everything feel a little lighter, a little safer. He was one of a kind, and the world is quieter without him.
